So just called the insurance company, potholes are considered an at-fault accident, I don't currently have any on my record, but even one equals a 25% increase in my rate. So insurance coverage is a no-go. As far as going after the city of Grand Rapids, a recent newspaper article says about 1 in 7 claims get paid out. So wish me luck! Haha.

WTF? An at-fault accident? I guess they have to say that since otherwise they'd lose money every winter in states like MI and definitely in northern VA.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd read your policy documentation very carefully. If it's considered to be an at-fault incident, you probably have a duty to notify your insurers even if you don't claim.
Saying that, it seems bizarre for them to claim it's any such thing. Are you sure the person you spoke to got it right?

I think so... She said something like: "I can go ahead and file the claim, but just so you know it's considered an at-fault accident, so I wouldn't recommend it"
So she won't make me report it...

I am feeling very rant-y towards insurance companies today for you. This is bullshit

Yeah, it's bullshit, wtf do I have insurance for anyways?
My health insurance doesn't say, well you were dumbass for falling over so we aren't covering the stitches you got in your forehead...

exactly. Cities should be responsible. I know in some towns in CT you just take a picture of the pothole and the damage, and send the bill into city hall. It is in effect the fault of the municipality but if you have full coverage insurance, that should totally cover. 25 percent hike for not being at fault?? fuck that racket

I feel ya. Dunno if you saw my thread yesterday, but I dented my wheel on a massive one here in NY. Was going to submit for a claim via NYS, but they're uber dicks from what I've heard and you need to prove they knew about it before and didn't repair it. It formed over a matter of hours, and then was repaired the next day, so I'm out a wheel :/. Good luck though, and happy spring?

Yeah... I hope I am one of the lucky 1 in 7...
One replacement wheel is SEVENHUNDREDANDEIGHTYFUCKINGDOLLARS.

Saw them on ebay when I was looking for mine and they cost a pretty penny to say the least.

damn, they look sweet though.
The whole thing sucks all around buddy, I've been dodging pot holes left and right in the Milan. Maybe I've got more sidewall than you do.
![]() 03/31/2014 at 11:25 |

Yeah, I don't have much for sidewalls with 20 inch wheels, haha.
I really like the TSW Nurburgring wheels, but I am not in the mood to spend over a grand on wheels right now. They are available in Bronze:

Yeah I just had to spend 1600 on a new fridge, washer and dryer (yay sears outlet!)

Hah yeah... I've been spending money like water lately. Plus I still want to do my tune and downpipe install (have the donwpipes already), so that'll set me back some more. This looks like it'll end up costing me between $500 and $1000... I hope.

ugh man. I've been trying to reign in the spending but shit keeps breaking.
And I have to do pads and rotors on the milan as well as 3 oil changes (all cars need em) and I have to get the valve seals done on the Montego.
![]() 03/31/2014 at 12:12 |

Yeah I need trans fluid change and an oil change too.
